The Hämelerwald
The Hämelerwald, north of the village of Hämelerwald and close to Lehrte in Lower Saxony, covers around 500 hectares. This mixed forest, characterized by oaks, beeches and pines, offers diverse habitats for numerous animal species such as deer, wild boar and many bird species. Well-marked hiking and cycling trails invite you to relax and observe nature. The Hämelerwald plays an important role in the regional ecosystem, contributes to air purification and climate regulation and is partly a nature reserve. Historic paths and boundary stones bear witness to its long history and cultural significance for the region.
Private forest
The Hämelerwald is largely private forest. The owners are united in cooperatives and organize the management of the forest. The cooperatives, which in turn have organized themselves into a forest management association, are supervised by the Niedersächsische Landesforsten (Fuhrberg Forestry Office). Sustainable forest management is proposed in the so-called forest management plan, which is drawn up every 10 years. At present, the sale of logs and timber is also organized by the advisory service of the State Forestry Office.
Forestry interest group Rötzum
The Forstinteressentenschaft Rötzum is the cooperative association of forest owners from Rötzum. Our forest manages 24.2 ha of forest area consisting of 60% oak, 32% beech, 2% ALh (hardwood with high rotation period) and 6% ALn (hardwood with low rotation period). In addition to the marketing of logs, firewood (beech, oak) is also sold or auctioned annually. If you are interested, please contact me. Firewood auctions (December) will be announced here in good time.
Important information for wood advertisers
This leaflet points out the basic rules of conduct for safe firewood advertising. Safe firewood advertising is guaranteed if you comply with the accident prevention regulations (VSG 4.3) of the agricultural trade associations. If you are not an expert, we strongly recommend that you attend a chainsaw training course before starting work. Information on course providers can be obtained from forestry offices or at www.motorsaegenkurs.de Please note that forest owners may make the granting of a permit for self-timbering dependent on the presentation of a course certificate.
